Does Triglyceride form fish oil increase triglyceride levels in your body?
By PrathFit Team
No, absolutely not.
'Triglyceride' here is the form in which the fish oil naturally occurs. About 95% of the fat we consume from animal source is in Triglyceride form only.
Dietary consumption of Triglyceride won't result in increment of our body Triglyceride levels as they are broken down by our body and utilized into energy.
We can understand from an example here, suppose you are having 100g of peanut which contains about 50g fat, 25g protein and 16g carbohydrates. So will it mean that eating 100g of it will store 50g of fat in your body? Absolutely not. Here, the fat macronutrient will be broken down by the body and will be used up as the energy source.
However, if we eat any food item in excess quantity (be it just slices of bread), our body will eventually store that excess energy in the form of fat (so that it can be used later)...which in turn at some point (when the fat deposit gets more) will lead to increment of Triglyceride, cholesterol levels in the body.
In short: Dietary triglyceride intake won't impact our body's TG levels (that too in such low quantity of 1000-2000mg). In fact, consuming fish oil in TG form is better as it is the naturally occuring form of oil found in fish which is better absorbed by the body. Anything related to a healthy fat would be best if taken in it's native form and that is a fact...!
